A New Treasure Hunt Takes the Team to Asia
Rogue Buddies 3 brings Maximus, Smoke, Duster, and Alpha Tech together again for another action-heavy mission. This adventure sends the team into Asia, where lost ruins and huge amounts of gold wait to be discovered. Naturally, the treasure does not sit around unprotected. Enemies and a mysterious new threat stand between the buddies and their goal.
The third game keeps the familiar mix of side-scrolling shooting and platform movement while adding new places, vehicles, skills, and character customization.
Four Fighters Still Mean Four Ways to Play
Each mercenary keeps a clear role.
Maximus remains the assault and grenade specialist. Smoke handles heavy weapons and rockets. Duster fights as a fast ninja with a katana. Alpha Tech uses technology such as drones and hacking skills.
Switching characters becomes useful when a particular ability fits the problem in front of you. A battle may call for heavier firepower, while another part of the stage can make a different buddy more useful.
The controls let you move and jump, shoot, use a special weapon, interact with objects, and switch characters.
Shooting Is Mixed With Small Puzzles
Rogue Buddies 3 still puts plenty of enemies in your path, but it does not turn every level into nonstop firing. Puzzles appear between the fights and ask you to notice how the surroundings work.
That change in pace helps the adventure feel less repetitive. You may spend one moment dealing with armed enemies and the next trying to work out how to reach another part of the ruins.
The game also adds new vehicles to ride. These give certain sections a different kind of movement and break up the usual running and jumping.
Upgrade the Buddies and Change Their Look
Rogue Buddies 3 includes new skills to learn and costumes for the team. The outfits give the characters a more playful side between all the fighting and treasure hunting.
The series’ humor also remains present. The characters are tough mercenaries, but the game does not present the adventure as a serious military story. Large weapons, strange situations, hidden treasure, colorful environments, and exaggerated action keep the tone closer to an arcade adventure.
Rogue Buddies 3 builds on the same idea that makes the earlier games work: four different characters sharing one mission. The trip through Asian ruins adds a fresh setting, while new skills, vehicles, puzzles, costumes, gold hunting, and character switching give players plenty to do between the larger battles.
