Rescue the Team and Fight Your Way Forward
Rogue Buddies is a side-scrolling action game where shooting, platforming, collecting, and character switching all come together. The adventure follows a group of heavily armed mercenaries who get caught up in a dangerous hunt for gold and revenge. Some members of the team are captured, so rescuing the missing buddies becomes an important part of the journey. Once a teammate is free, you can switch to that character and use a different set of abilities.
The four main fighters are Maximus, Smoke, Alpha Tech, and Duster. They do not all handle trouble in the same way. Maximus specializes in assault weapons and grenades. Smoke prefers heavy guns and rockets. Alpha Tech uses shields and drones. Duster relies on fast movement and a katana.
Guns Are Only Part of the Adventure
Rogue Buddies has plenty of shooting, but the game is not just about standing still and firing. You move through side-view areas filled with platforms, enemies, objects, and places that need to be explored.
Different weapons give you several ways to deal with enemies. Guns handle normal fighting, while grenades and rockets can provide much more power. Weapons can also be upgraded as you continue.
Movement matters just as much as firepower. Some parts require jumping between platforms or reaching areas that are not directly in front of you. The action control also lets you interact with useful objects during the mission.
Switch Buddies When Their Skills Matter
Character switching gives Rogue Buddies more variety than a shooter with one hero. After rescuing teammates, you can change between them instead of using the same fighter from beginning to end.
One character may suit a heavy fight. Another may help with movement or a special obstacle. This encourages you to learn what each buddy can do instead of treating them as different-looking versions of the same character.
Gold and other rewards also give you a reason to explore instead of rushing past everything.
Action With a Wild Sense of Humor
Rogue Buddies does not take its battles too seriously. The characters, explosions, exaggerated weapons, vehicles, and fast action give the game a loud cartoon style.
The main controls remain easy to understand. You move, use two weapon options, interact with the environment, and switch characters. The challenge comes from combining those actions while enemies attack from different parts of the level.
Rogue Buddies works as a mix of platform adventure and arcade shooting. Rescuing the full crew changes what you can do, while weapon upgrades and character abilities give the action more depth as the mission continues.
