Build the Whole Board Around the Number Nine
9 is a number puzzle game where every level revolves around one target. You need to combine the numbered tiles until they become 9. The math starts out simple, but the movement rules soon turn each stage into a proper logic puzzle.
You move a tile by dragging it in one of four directions. The tile slides across the board until something stops it. When it reaches another numbered tile, the values can join together. A 4 and a 5 make 9. A 6 and a 3 also make 9. Other combinations may need several moves before they reach the target.
Once you create a 9, that tile becomes a fixed block. You cannot move through it or push it somewhere else. This rule creates most of the challenge. Every completed 9 changes the space available for the numbers that remain.
Making a Nine Too Early Can Cause Trouble
The first possible combination is not always the best one. A 7 and a 2 may sit close together, but combining them straight away could block the route needed by another tile.
This makes the order of your moves important. You need to look at all the numbers before committing to a combination. A finished 9 can work as a useful wall. Another sliding number may need that wall to stop in the correct position.
The board becomes more crowded as more 9s appear. Finding enough room for the final few numbers often creates the hardest part of a stage.
There is an undo option too. This lets you take back a move instead of restarting the whole puzzle after one mistake.
Lots of Levels and Remix Challenges
9 includes 72 main puzzles. The early stages introduce the rules with simple layouts. Later boards use more numbers and tighter spaces. They require much better planning.
The game also includes 27 Remix puzzles. These provide more layouts after the main set and give players extra number challenges to solve.
The mouse handles everything, so there are no complicated controls to remember. You can concentrate on the numbers, their positions and the order in which they should meet.
9 works well as both a math game and a logic game. Adding the numbers is only the first step. The harder job involves moving them into useful positions without trapping anything behind completed blocks.
The target never changes. Make 9s from everything on the board. The path toward that simple goal keeps changing from level to level.
