About Target Words
I recently stumbled onto Target Words and it’s quickly become my go-to little brain teaser of the day. The premise is simple enough: you’ve got six chances to guess a secret five-letter word, and each guess lights up the letters to show you exactly how close you are. Green means you nailed it, yellow means you’ve got the letter but it’s in the wrong spot, and gray sends you back to the drawing board. It feels familiar if you’ve tried other word games, but somehow it adds just enough polish that I can’t stop coming back.
What really sold me is how clean and responsive the interface feels. Tap or type, whichever you prefer, and the letters pop up instantly. There’s no loading screen, no distracting animations—just you, the grid, and that satisfying ding when you finally land on the right letter. I also appreciate the smaller extras, like the little animation when your streak climbs or the way the keyboard highlights which letters are totally off the table.
You get a fresh puzzle every 24 hours, which is cool if you like pacing yourself, but there’s also an unlimited mode if you want to burn through several puzzles in one sitting. It tracks your win percentage, streaks, and guess distribution in a neat little dashboard, so you can obsess over your stats without feeling overwhelmed. And yes, you can share your results in the classic colored-squares format if you ever feel the urge to brag to your friends.
All in all, Target Words feels like that perfect coffee-break distraction. It’s quick, it’s challenging enough to keep you on your toes, and it gives you just the right dopamine hit once you crack that last letter. Whether you’re a die-hard word-game fanatic or just looking for a five-minute mental stretch, it’s totally worth a spin.
