Create a Player and Step Onto the Court
NexGen Tennis is a 3D tennis game where you create your own player and compete in different types of matches. You can customize the player, choose clothing and rackets, then move onto the court and begin playing.
The game offers several ways to play. World Tour takes you through competitions in different locations, while Exhibition lets you start a match without going through the full tour. Training is also available in versions of the game for practicing the controls before entering serious matches.
Move Into Position Before Hitting
The arrow keys move your tennis player around the court. Spacebar controls the shot.
Holding Spacebar lets you prepare the power. You can also use the arrow keys while preparing the shot to influence its direction.
Good positioning matters. If you reach the ball late, even a strong shot may become difficult to aim.
Try Different Types of Shots
NexGen Tennis gives you more control than simply pressing one button whenever the ball arrives. The Up Arrow can help create topspin, while the Down Arrow can produce a slice or drop-style shot during the hitting process.
These choices become useful against different opponents. A deep shot can push someone toward the back of the court. A shorter ball can force that player to run forward.
Play on Different Court Surfaces
Exhibition mode includes clay, grass, hard, and carpet courts. World Tour also takes you to different places and surfaces as you progress.
You can gain skill points during the larger tournament experience and improve your player.
NexGen Tennis gives you enough control to make rallies interesting without turning every shot into a complicated command. Move into position, judge the incoming ball, choose your direction, control the power, and try to win each point through better placement rather than hitting as hard as possible every time.
