Soul Drive
Okay, Soul Driver! This one’s a trip – it’s a side-scrolling driving game, right? And get this, you’re playing as this driver who’s making a mad dash for the Mexico border with the cops breathing down your neck! The whole thing has this really funny, kind of goofy vibe to it, and the graphics are all cartoony and charming, which totally adds to the fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. As you’re burning rubber down the road, you’re gonna run into all sorts of crazy obstacles, like roadblocks and other weird stuff, plus challenges that’ll make you think fast and really use those quick reflexes to survive.
So, the gameplay is all about keeping your car from becoming a smoldering wreck, basically. You gotta manage your speed – can’t go too slow, or they’ll catch ya; can’t go too fast, or you’ll crash! You’re dodging all sorts of hazards that pop up out of nowhere, and you’re constantly dealing with these relentless police units who are trying absolutely everything in their power to stop you and end your run. What’s cool is you can even pull off some nifty stunts and slick maneuvers to try and shake ‘em off your tail, which feels pretty awesome when you nail it. And while you’re at it, you’re collecting cash that’s scattered around, which you can then use to upgrade your ride – make it faster, tougher, handle better, you know the drill. Plus, they threw in these achievements and extra challenges that give you a good reason to play it again and again, trying to beat your scores or unlock everything.
Soul Driver really just nails that awesome combination of fun, engaging gameplay, those genuinely humorous moments that’ll make you chuckle, and the cool, stylized look of it all. It all comes together to make it a super enjoyable ride, especially if you’re looking for a driving game that’s lighthearted and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The controls are easy enough for pretty much anyone to pick up and play straight away, but the difficulty definitely ramps up as you go, so whether you’re just a casual player looking for a quick laugh or someone who really gets into games and wants a challenge, you’ll probably find something to really like here.
