Battleship Becomes a Full Military Strategy Game
Artillerists is a turn-based strategy game that takes the hidden-position idea of Battleship and builds a much larger war around it. Instead of searching for a few ships on an empty grid, players command military units, capture territory, control resources, and try to destroy the enemy’s armed forces.
The battlefield uses an isometric view. Both sides take turns making their moves, which gives the player time to study the situation before choosing the next attack.
The game rewards planning more than fast reactions.
Find Enemies Before You Waste an Attack
Enemy positions are an important part of Artillerists.
Players can use radar reconnaissance to gather information before attacking. Other equipment can help reveal how far hidden enemy vehicles may be from a location. This turns searching into part of the strategy.
Firing without enough information can waste a valuable attack. A better approach is to narrow down the possible enemy positions and then strike where the chance of finding a target is much higher.
This hidden-unit system gives Artillerists its strong connection to classic Battleship.
Call In Heavy Firepower
Normal units are only part of the available arsenal.
Artillerists includes powerful options such as volley fire, artillery strikes, air strikes, and radar support. These attacks can cause much more damage than a basic shot, but using them well still depends on knowing where the enemy is located.
A large strike aimed at the wrong area does very little good.
The player therefore needs to combine information gathering with firepower instead of relying only on the biggest weapon available.
Capture Factories and Manage Money
Winning also depends on the economy.
Territory and factories provide an important advantage. Money allows the player to improve the army and buy stronger equipment. Losing control of useful areas can make future turns much harder.
This creates another choice during battle. The player can concentrate on attacking enemy units or spend time gaining control of locations that will provide a longer-term advantage.
There is no tiny fixed squad that stays unchanged throughout the whole game. The army can grow as resources allow, and upgrades help prepare it for stronger opposition.
Artillerists combines hidden targets, turn-based attacks, territory control, money management, and heavy military weapons in one strategy game. The best move is not always the most powerful explosion. Finding the enemy first and building enough resources to keep fighting can matter just as much.
